We are the Church
The Church is comprised of all believers or the People of God. Ordained clergy have a distinct role and function in the Church; all of the baptized are a part of the whole of the Body of Christ. Together with ordained ministers, the lay faithful are called to live out their baptism through spreading the gospel message and ministering to people in need.
The entire body of the faithful, anointed as they are by the Holy One, cannot err in matters of belief. They manifest this special property by means of the whole peoples' supernatural discernment in matters of faith when ‘from the Bishops down to the last of the lay faithful,’ they show universal agreement in matters of faith and morals. That discernment in matters of faith is aroused and sustained by the Spirit of truth. (Lumen Gentium #12)
October: 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal – "This is Our Church"
Gifts of our time, talent and treasure to our Parish and our Archdiocese are an important part of our commitment to stewardship of God’s gifts. Those who have contributed to the 2019 Catholic Appeal are expressing their gratitude for God’s gifts to them and are providing critical resources necessary to continue the ministries and services of the Archdiocese. 51 ministries serving 288 parishes. This is our Church.

Prayers of the Faithful:
The Annual Catholic Appeal, in addition to meeting the financial needs of our Church, calls one another to actively practice our faith. Prayer is vital in the conversion of the heart, which leads people to give generously to serve the needs of others.
The following are some sample Prayers of the Faithful that you may want to consider adding to your Parish liturgies:
• That we may see the work of the Annual Catholic Appeal as an opportunity to extend our love and service beyond the boundaries of our parish and local community. We pray to the Lord.
• For all those in need, that they may find guidance and assistance from the many services available through our generous support of the Annual Catholic Appeal. We pray to the Lord.
• That the Holy Spirit may continue to guide the work of the Church throughout our Archdiocese, and that Christ’s message of love may be realized by all. We pray to the Lord.
CONNECT-Boston
On October 2nd, the Office of Campus Ministry will host the first and largest campus ministry event in the history of the Archdiocese, CONNECT-Boston. CONNECT-Boston will invite undergraduate, graduate, and recent graduates from all 72 of the colleges and universities in the Archdiocese to come together at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston to hear from keynote speakers Curtin Martin, CEO and Founder of FOCUS and Jennifer Baugh, Founder of Young Catholic Professionals. Students will connect with Catholic professionals in their fields of study; will connect with other Catholic students like themselves; will connect with service opportunities throughout greater Boston; and will connect with Jesus himself during a Eucharistic procession in the Cathedral. The Nineteenth Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola an Invitation to Meet Christ in Prayer (in everyday life)
The Nineteenth Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola an Invitation to Meet Christ in Prayer, is a retreat intended to be done in the midst of ordinary everyday life. The retreat is available for Catholic Adults in a group setting and is offered over the course of twenty-three weeks. Participants pray with suggested scripture passages daily and meet each week to share their experience of prayer and prepare for the upcoming week.
This year the exercises will begin on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 and conclude April 29, 2020. The group will meet weekly from 10am to 12 noon at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, Newton, MA. CURSILLO An opportunity to deepen your faith

The Cursillo is a "little course in Christianity" that begins on a Thursday evening and concludes Sunday afternoon. Each Cursillo is an encounter with Christ in a small community of the Church, in order that Christ’s love and grace can be brought to every aspect of life. Fr Bill Murphy and Mary Ann McLaughlin will be the Spiritual Directors of upcoming weekends. The Boston Cursillo Weekends are held at The Campion Center, 319 Concord Road in Weston, Massachusetts.
